ENDLESS PRESENT | LIMITED FUTURE
ENDLESS PRESENT | LIMITED FUTURE is a non-formal, alternative educational project dedicated to children aged between 10 and 17 years old from six Romanian cities: Alexandria, Slobozia, Turnu Măgurele, Oltenița, Urziceni, and Mizil. The project started in May 2021 and ended in October 2022. It aimed to promote visual art as a means of expression, and to contribute to developing the creativity of the younger generation. By using comics and illustrated stories, the children involved in the project (coming from the local communities of the six aforementioned cities) looked for potential solutions for the eradication of plastic pollution, one of the most serious threats to our environment and to climate change. It was a good opportunity to introduce children to concepts such as sustainable growth, circular economy, and renewable resources. These concepts were presented as constructive ways to actively contribute to preserving Earth, the ecosystem which is our home.
The project encompassed 72 comic strip and storytelling workshops on the topic of plastic pollution. These workshops were carried out in 6 cities. Ten schools and a total of 124 children participated, which generated 108 comics, 7 art exhibitions, 12 short animated films, and an urban camp. Ten teachers from local communities and eight trainers who hosted the workshops were involved.
The project was financed with the support of EEA Grants 2014 – 2021 within the RO-CULTURE Programme. Main sponsor: Kaufland Romania. Partner: NORSENSUS Mediaforum Norway.
ENDLESS PRESENT | LIMITED FUTURE is an interdisciplinary platform which encourages new perspectives for approaching local and global problems. The platform aims to promote visual art as a means of communication, to contribute to developing the creativity of the younger generation, and to support active citizenship.
