ABOUT US
Established in 2010, in Bucharest, Volum Art Association aims to promote contemporary art and foster the public interest for contemporary art. The association’s main goal is developing public art projects and non-formal artistic educational projects addressed to the young public.
Between 2011-2017, the association organized every year in Bucharest a public art programme called EXPANDED SPACE. The projects developed within this programme encouraged the presence of new and various forms of artistic expression in the public space and, based on the subject each project focused on, aimed to create a space for dialogue, exchange of ideas and interaction for the large public and different groups and actors from the public space. The temporality of the actions developed within the program allowed the artists to use various artistic forms, from sculpture to installation and performance, and also to touch upon current, sensitive, even controversial topics.
One important part of the projects carried out between 2011 and 2017 was the educational component. The experience gained throughout the development of the EXPANDED SPACE programme, which addressed both a specialized audience and the general public, unfamiliar with contemporary art, revealed the need to develop educational projects dedicated both to young and adult audiences. As a first step in this direction, the association's team launched in 2018 the project TELL ME A STORY. The project supports and encourages children and teenagers to become the authors of their own stories, to share their emotions, stories and vision of the world using visual arts: comics, storytelling and animation.
